Okemo Mountain School is offering a Fall Fundamentals Camp in Colorado from November 10 - 24, 2024 to access early season freeskiing and training. This will be a valuable opportunity to get in some early season fundamentals work prior to being able to be on-snow in Vermont. This camp is mainly geared towards U14+ athletes, but U12s will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The athletic focus will be gaining mileage on snow and establishing solid fundamentals to prepare for the beginning of the season on both SL and GS skis. The camp will consist of 12 days on-snow (weather permitting) with one day off mid-camp.
Estimated Cost:
$4900 for OMS athletes enrolled during the month of November.
$5900 for OMS athletes or others not enrolled during the month of November. Okemo Competition Center athletes and athletes from other programs are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Cost includes lodging, breakfast, dinner, lunch supplies (athletes must make for themselves to bring to the mountain), ground transportation, coaching fees, lane / training fees.
Cost does not include lift access at Keystone (but Keystone is accessible with the Epic Pass/Epic Local Pass), airfare, lunch if purchased at the mountain, or meals when traveling to/from Colorado.
For any athletes wishing to attend as day campers (no lodging or meals provided), the estimated cost is:
$3,200 for OMS athletes enrolled during the month of November.
$4,200 for OMS athletes or others not enrolled during the month of November.
To secure a spot on this camp, a $1500 deposit is due by Friday 9/13. Final camp cost will be determined shortly after this due date. Registration is online - CLICK HERE to register today!
Air Travel:
Coaches will be booked on a flight to Denver (departure airport and flight details TBD). We encourage all campers that can to travel with the coaches. Any athletes wishing to travel with the coaches should book the same flights - see details below. If your athlete is under 15 years old, you will want to book with Winter Park Travel (contact info will be provided later) to associate with the coaches’ tickets and avoid additional fees. If anyone chooses to travel a different flight itinerary, they may need to use the Epic Mountain Express for travel from the airport to Keystone unless they land at or before the Denver arrival time.

Academics:
Currently enrolled OMS student-athletes will work with their OMS teachers over the course of the camp via a combination of email correspondence and phone/video conferencing contact (as schedule allows). They will be expected to continue working through their assignments at a reasonable pace using their study hall time wisely and requesting additional school time from the coaches if needed. Campers who are not currently enrolled OMS student-athletes will also be expected to complete school work that they have personally arranged from their sending schools during the study hall times. Should the need for any subject specific support arise, OMS can provide remote tutoring for non-OMS campers on an as needed basis - final arrangements TBD. Should you wish to explore this option, please contact Mariel Meringolo (mmeringolo@okemomountainschool.org).
